The FSU baseball team has received a commitment from 2028 infielder Alex Rodriguez, who announced the news on social media.
"I am extremely grateful and excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Florida State University!," he wrote. "First off, I want to thank my parents for always being there for me and always believing in me. I also want to thank all my coaches along that way that have helped me get to where I am now. Go Noles"
Rodriguez is from Plant City, Florida, and is coming off an excellent sophomore season at Plant City High School. He finished the year hitting .329 with five home runs, six doubles, and 18 RBI in 28 games. In 100 plate appearances, he recorded 28 hits and 14 walks, striking out 10 times.
He had a .420 on-base percentage and a .624 slugging percentage. He also stole six bases. He played shirtstop in the field and finished with a .917 fielding percentage, making seven errors in 84 chances.
Rodrigues also spent some time on the mound, posting a 3.29 ERA in 17 innings with a 1-1 record and a save. He allowed 10 runs on 16 hits and eight walks, striking out 24 batters.
