2028 four-star edge Jeremiah Figaro mentioned last week that he was excited to take his first trip to see the Florida State Seminoles this weekend in their season opener. During their 34-17 win over the New Mexico State Aggies, they didn't disappoint.
To be even more specific, FSU made Figaro feel like one of their top priorities.
"The experience was great," Figaro told 247Sports. "It was awesome to hear the Tomahawk Chop and see Renegade. The fan support was crazy walking into the stadium.
"They treated me like one of their own. I had fun."
Figaro is listed as the No. 231 prospect in the country and the No. 21 edge in 247Sports composite rankings. He's also ranked as the No. 4 recruit in Massachusetts.
FSU's defense had a hard time getting off the
field on third down, particularly on long distances to gain, as New Mexico State converted 10 out of 17 attempts. They also gave up quite a bit of yardage on underneath routes, a little more than anyone would like.
With that said, Figaro did see some positive signs when speaking on the things that stood out.
"I was impressed by how the DL got off the ball and made adjustments during the game," Figaro said. "I thought New Mexico State was getting rid of the ball fast to take away the pass rush, so they started getting pressure up the middle and getting their hands up outside."
It was important for Florida State to make a good impression on Figaro as he'll also visit the Tennessee Volunteers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, Penn State Nittany Lions, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Virginia Tech Hokies, and UCLA Bruins this season.
