Florida State had a ton of visitors on campus last Saturday when they got a win in their season opener. One of the key prospects who attended was 2028 three-star quarterback Hudson West, who had a five-hour commute from Sarasota, Florida, to Tallahassee.
This marked the second time the 6-foot-4.5, 185-pounder has visited since his offer back in April, as he also visited in June for a camp. However, this was a more significant trip for West as he navigates through the recruiting process.
He went to get a better feel for the program and to build his bond with FSU's coaching staff, and he also got to spend time with former Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis. Before West left, Florida State made it clear that he's a priority target for them.
"That
was a pretty big talking point for them," West told 247Sports. "They made it clear that I'm one of their top guys. That was really nice to hear, obviously, but they made it pretty clear."
West is the nation's No. 521 player nationally and the No. 34 quarterback per the 247Sports composite rankings. He's also the No. 65 prospect in the state of Florida.
There's some pretty strong competition for West that FSU will have to deal with. First, there's the Florida Gators, who have a prediction to land him, which isn't that surprising because he grew up rooting for them. The North Carolina Tar Heels and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are heavy contenders as well.
West is off to a good start in his junior year. He's completed 67.7% of his passes (42 for 62) for 651 yards and seven touchdowns to just one interception. He's been very productive on the ground with 89 yards on 10 carries with three scores.
After his visit, West said that he was encouraged by what Florida State showed him. Now, they just need to keep winning games and get him back on campus for another game visit this season.
