Florida State is looking to add more talent to its 2027 recruiting class by way of the JUCO ranks. On Monday, they extended an offer to Coaleon Johnson out of Iowa Western Community College.
"Blessed to receive an offer from Florida State University! 🍢🏹 Thank you to the coaches for believing in my ability and giving me this opportunity. I’m grateful for every opportunity God continues to put in front of me," Johnson announced.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder is being courted by other programs such as the SMU Mustangs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas State Wildcats, and the UConn Huskies. He's locked in an official visit on Nov. 13 to go see UConn, which is the weekend they'll host the James Madison Dukes. Johnson is also working on his first official visit to FSU
as well, and he mentioned why he's so eager to get to Tallahassee.
“I like the environment, the culture and everything of Florida State,” Johnson told Rivals. “I’ll be going on an official visit soon.”
Johnson is from the Chicago area, and he played at Orr Academy during his high school days. In 2025, he attended Rochester Community and Technical College in Minnesota, and he made the most of his opportunity. He ended up earning First-Team JUCO All-American honors after registering 55 tackles, one tackle for loss, three fumble recoveries (ran one back for a touchdown), and six interceptions, which included a pick-six.
He's gotten off to a great start in 2026, he's logged three interceptions in his first three games. Johnson certainly has the size and ball skills that make him an intriguing prospect for the Seminoles to pursue. Once they do get him on campus, they'll need to make an aggressive push that will set themselves apart from the other contenders.
Johnson isn't a ranked prospect at the moment, but that will change in the near future with the type of production he keeps displaying.
