The Davey O'Brien Great 8 List is an honor given to the top eight performing quarterbacks for each week. However, for Week 5, it was expended to "Davey Double" as 16 quarterbacks were honored for their performances.
Florida State quarterback Ashton Daniels had a huge game against the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday. In fact, his performance will go down in FSU history as he ran for 136 yards, and his five touchdowns set a program record. As a passer, Daniels completed 12 of his 19 passes for 183 yards.
This outstanding outing by Daniels landed him on the Davey O'Brien Great 8 List for last week. Some of the other signal callers that received the honor were CJ Carr (Notre Dame), Gio Lopez (Wake Forest), and Julian Sayin (Ohio State).
Daniels is finding
his stride at the right time for the Seminoles as their ACC schedule heats up. He's been more accurate with his passes the last few weeks, and against Virginia, he showed that his ability on the ground can be a real asset for Florida State.
The hope is that this continues as FSU looks to not only get back to a bowl game for the first time since 2023, but also keep pace in the hunt for the ACC title. With the Louisville Cardinals, Miami Hurricanes, and Clemson Tigers on the schedule in October, the Seminoles can make a huge statement and turn their season around if Daniels continues to improve.
