The FSU Seminoles turned to several new faces to get their 31-24 win over the Boston College Eagles on Saturday. Not only were Rick Stockstill the head coach and Ernie Sims the defensive coordinator, but several freshmen stepped up to lead the offense.
Amari Thomas had the best game of his career, carrying the ball 19 times for a team-high 98 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter. With Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr. injured, it was a massive performance that they had to have.
With Duce Robinson done for the season, Jasen Lopez made his first career start and was another difference-maker. He caught four passes for 54 yards, adding a crucial 40-yard punt return that set up a touchdown. His performance
did not surprise Stockstill, who praised him after the game.
Made some phenomenal contested catches, you know, the little out route on third down on their sideline there in the fourth quarter of the big, and the conversion on third down on the last touchdown drive that touched deep ball that he caught on their sideline. You know, just made some really nice plays.
