FSU softball has landed its first commit in the 2028 recruiting cycle, securing a commitment from Paityn Donalson on Wednesday, with her announcing the news on social media.
"I’m beyond blessed and incredibly emotional to announce that I have committed to Florida State University to continue my academic and softball career!," she wrote on social media.
Donalson is from Lakeland, Florida, and plays in the infield and outfield. She has had a dominant career at Lakeland Christian High School, playing on the varsity team since seventh grade.
Her sophomore season was the best of her career, with her hitting .693 with 11 home runs, 10 doubles, eight triples, 50 RBI, and scoring 52 runs in 27 games. She finished with a .748 on-base percentage and a 1.364
slugging percentage.
Donalson walked 16 times and struck out just once. She is extremely dangerous on the bases and stole 35 bags last year, getting thrown out just twice. She made 10 errors last year, posting a .870 fielding percentage.
She has already played in 88 games during her high school career, with two seasons to go. She has hit .595 with a .682 on-base percentage in 333 plate appearances. Donalson has 17 home runs, 31 doubles, 13 triples, 117 RBI, and has scored 172 runs. She has a 1.008 slugging percentage and has stolen 93 bases.
