Florida State had a bye week to prepare for the Clemson Tigers' offense, which came into the game as one of the worst in the nation. They looked very good against FSU as they put up 36 points and over 350 yards in their win inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
It was a continuation of a very frustrating and underwhelming year defensively for the Seminoles under Tony White. It was the third straight game that an opponent scored over 35 points on them, and it was also the third consecutive game that a team ran for over 150 yards.
There wasn't much to be positive about for Florida State on the defensive side of the ball on Saturday night. However, these three players put forth noteworthy performances.
Ashlynd Barker
Barker finished the game with nine total tackles. He
had several very nice solo stops against Clemson, and he had six for the entire game. He's currently playing with a broken bone in his arm, which makes what he's doing even more impressive. In fact, if he continues playing this way, he'll likely get himself drafted.
Chris Jones
Another game and another good showing for the leader of the linebacker room. He had five solo tackles against Clemson and 10 in total, which was second on the team. He continues to be one of the bright spots on a unit that can't seem to stop a nosebleed.
Mikai Gbayor
The linebacker group has been the strength of FSU's defense this season, and Gbayor has helped tremendously in that regard. He had four tackles on the night, with two of them being solo stops, which also included a sack and one tackle for loss. Like Jones, he's been a great addition from the transfer portal.
