Former FSU baseball outfielder BJ Gibson has found his new home. The former Seminole is transferring to Stetson, he announced Tuesday on social media. Gibson also played wide receiver at FSU.
He spent the 2026 season with the Tallahassee State College Eagles, his first season playing just baseball. The Rochelle, Georgia native hit .260 with four home runs, seven doubles, and 19 RBI in 44 games. He walked 27 times and struck out 40, finishing with a .399 on-base percentage and a .425 slugging percentage.
Gibson had plenty of success on the bases, stealing 23 bases. He will have three seasons of eligibility with the Hatters and is eligible for the 2027 MLB Draft.
He played football and baseball at FSU as a freshman in 2024 and for part of the 2025
football season, but stopped playing football after the fifth game of the 2025 season to focus solely on baseball. He had two catches for 14 yards as a freshman and did not record a stat as a sophomore.
Gibson played in 21 games as an outfielder as a freshman, making nine starts. He hit .242 in 33 at-bats, with three doubles, 4 RBI, 11 runs, four stolen bases, and eight walks. He was not expected to play as much as he did, but was forced into the lineup. He then transferred to TSC before the start of the 2025 baseball season.
