The Florida State Seminoles got the bounce-back victory they needed against Central Arkansas, but ESPN's analytics still see a difficult path through the final two months of the season.
The Seminoles improved to 2-2 with Saturday’s 34-7 win at Doak Campbell Stadium. With the nonconference tune-up behind them, seven ACC games and the annual rivalry matchup with the Florida Gators
remain on the schedule.ESPN’s updated Matchup Predictor favors Florida State in only three of those eight games: Clemson, Boston College and NC State. The model gives FSU less than a 50% chance against Virginia, Louisville, Miami, Pittsburgh and Florida.
Here is how ESPN currently views the rest of the Seminoles’ 2026 schedule.
Oct. 3 vs. Virginia
Projected winner: Virginia
FSU win probability:
41.6%
Projected record: 2-3
Florida State returns to ACC play at Doak Campbell Stadium, yet ESPN gives Virginia the advantage. This is easily the most dramatic change on Florida State’s remaining schedule. A week ago, ESPN narrowly favored the Seminoles at home. Now, Virginia owns a fairly substantial advantage after FSU’s victory over Central Arkansas.
Oct. 9 at Louisville
Projected winner: Louisville
FSU win probability: 30.7%
Projected record: 2-4
Louisville remains the favorite, but this was the lone remaining matchup in which Florida State’s outlook improved from last week. FSU gained 4.8 percentage points after Louisville’s 30-27 loss to Wake Forest, bringing the Seminoles above the 30% mark. ESPN still sees a difficult road assignment, just not quite as daunting as it did seven days ago.
Oct. 17 at Miami
Projected winner: Miami
FSU win probability: 5.9%
Projected record: 2-5
Miami was already Florida State’s least likely victory last week, and the gap widened further after Week 4. The Seminoles’ chances dropped another 2.4 percentage points, leaving ESPN with virtually no confidence in an FSU upset at Hard Rock Stadium. It is easily FSU’s smallest win probability of the season’s final eight games.
Oct. 31 vs. Clemson
Projected winner: Florida State
FSU win probability: 57.6%
Projected record: 3-5
After three consecutive games in which ESPN favors the opponent, the outlook finally swings back toward Florida State. Despite Clemson winning three straight after its season-opening loss at LSU, the Matchup Predictor gives the Seminoles a 57.6% chance at Doak. That makes this one of only three remaining games where FSU currently owns the model’s advantage.
Nov. 7 at Boston College
Projected winner: Florida State
FSU win probability: 73.9%
Projected record: 4-5
Florida State’s strongest remaining projection does not come at home. ESPN gives the Seminoles nearly a three-in-four chance against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, making it the lone remaining road game where FSU is currently favored.
Nov. 13 at Pittsburgh
Projected winner: Pittsburgh
FSU win probability: 21.2%
Projected record: 4-6
Any momentum from the Boston College projection disappears six days later. Pittsburgh has opened the season 4-0, and ESPN gives Florida State just a 21.2% chance in the Friday night matchup at Acrisure Stadium. Only the Miami game carries a lower FSU probability among the Seminoles’ remaining ACC contests.
Nov. 21 vs. NC State
Projected winner: Florida State
FSU win probability: 68.2%
Projected record: 5-6
The Matchup Predictor becomes considerably more favorable once FSU returns home. ESPN gives the Seminoles better than a two-thirds chance against NC State, a game that could carry significant postseason implications if Florida State reaches November near the .500 mark.
Nov. 27 vs. Florida
Projected winner: Florida
FSU win probability: 21.0%
Projected record: 5-7
Florida State gets its rival at Doak this season, but ESPN does not believe home-field advantage will be enough. FSU’s chances against Florida fell 9.5 percentage points in one week. ESPN now sees the Gators as an even stronger favorite in a finale that could carry major postseason implications for the Seminoles.
