Florida State needs to do everything they can to hold on to the top players in its 2027 recruiting class. One of the top commitments they need to hold on to is four-star athlete Za'Kari Johnson out of Miami Carol City High School. He pledged to the Seminoles in July.
The 6-foot-1, 196-pounder has been on several visits to other schools such as the Miami Hurricanes, Texas A&M Aggies, and the Auburn Tigers. Johnson was in Tallahassee on Oct. 3 when FSU beat the Virginia Cavaliers, and per Kolby Crawford of Noles247, he'll spend this weekend with the program when they play the Clemson Tigers.
Johnson mentioned recently that he's close to shutting down his recruitment once and for all. He went on to say that he could be persuaded to flip to another
school.
"Right now, I'm still with Florida State to the end, but somebody somewhere else could flip me," Johnson said. "You never know."
That's not exactly a flattering statement as far as FSU is concerned. However, when he visited earlier this month, he did endorse his decision to commit to Florida State.
"I'm glad to be committed here, I can't wait to be a Seminole," said Johnson.
This is a critical visit for FSU and their chances of keeping Johnson. They need to win, of course, but rolling out the garnet and gold carpet for Johnson is also extremely important.
Johnson is the nation's No. 344 overall player and the No. 21 athlete per 247Sports composite rankings. He's also the No. 29 recruit in Florida.
