Florida State needs a win, and they need it badly coming off two consecutive losses. Their opponent on Saturday night is the Clemson Tigers, a team they've lost to twice in a row. How ironic.
The Seminoles unfortunately lost running back Ousmane Kromah for the season against the Miami Hurricanes two weeks ago, which seriously hurts their rushing attack. So, they'll be a little handicapped going forward offensively, but the show must go on.
Clemson has a very solid defensive unit, which features several talented players, making this a formidable challenge for FSU's offense. However, if they want to keep their bowl hopes alive, Florida State has to find a way to be efficient on offense in this one.
Here are their offensive keys for the game.
Quintrevion Wisner needs a big game
Wisner
has shown flashes over the last few games that he can be a contributor. In this game, he has to be a focal point in terms of keeping the chains moving and racking up some explosive runs to keep Clemson's defense honest. Also, Wisner needs to continue being a threat as a pass catcher.
Feed Duce Robinson
Robinson made life difficult for Miami's secondary with 113 yards and two touchdowns, which was just his second game over the century mark for the season. His size and athleticism need to be used as much as possible in this game, which will allow quarterback Ashton Daniels to get in a rhythm early.
Control time of possession
Clemson's offense ranks last in the ACC in several categories, and it's also ranked very low nationally. The more FSU can keep them on the sidelines and prevent them from establishing any kind of rhythm, the better. They need to sustain some long drives on Saturday night.
Offensive line must win their matchups
The Tigers have some capable players on their defensive front, mainly edge rusher Will Heldt, who has six sacks on the year. Then there's Darien Mayo and his massive 6-foot-7 frame on the interior. Florida State can't let them disrupt the running game or get pressure on Daniels with any kind of regularity.
Score touchdowns in the red zone
As mentioned, Clemson's defense is good, and it won't be easy to move the ball or score points. With that said, FSU has enough talent to get themselves into the red zone several times on Saturday night. When they do, they must score touchdowns and keep the pressure on a pedestrian Clemson offense.
