Florida State started the season 1-0 with a 34-17 win over New Mexico State. In attendance were a plethora of prospects that the Seminoles have their eyes on, and one of them was four-star offensive tackle Tyrie Davis-Winn, who is a 2028 recruit.
It was his first trip on campus as he traveled from the state of Pennsylvania. Of course, first impressions are a big thing in the recruiting world, and FSU passed with flying colors in that area. So much so that Davis-Winn is eyeing a return trip during the season.
"Overall, I really enjoyed FSU and I'm glad I made the trip down to Tallahassee," Davis-Winn told 247Sports. "Between the facilities, the game day experience and how welcoming the staff was, it was definitely worth the trip.
"It's a program
I want to continue building a relationship with, and I can definitely see myself coming back for another visit in the future."
Davis-Winn is the No. 218 overall player nationally and the No. 25 offensive tackle per the 247Sports composite rankings. They also have the 6-foot-8, 270-pounder ranked as the No. 8 prospect in Pennsylvania.
His visit allowed him to spend significant time with offensive line coach Herb Hand as well as assistant offensive line coach Manrey Saint-Amour. Davis-Winn dove into what he discussed with them during his time in Tallahassee.
"We had a really good conversation," Davis-Winn said. "They asked about my game Friday against (Richland, N.J.) St. Augustine Prep and we talked about how it went and some things that could've been better.
"We also talked about FSU, the offensive line, and the direction the program is headed. I liked that the conversation wasn't just recruiting. It was also about football and development."
The Seminoles didn't offer Davis-Winn until June, but the fact that they were able to get him on campus shortly after and make him want to take a return visit is a great sign. Now, they just need to keep winning games as well to make him even more interested in the program.
