The FSU Seminoles beat the New Mexico State Aggies 34-17 to start the season, which means one Florida State player was given the honor of breaking the rock after the game. There was a clear choice after the game, with Samuel Singleton Jr. being chosen after an excellent game.
He showcased his ability to affect the game in multiple ways, making explosive plays as a runner, receiver, and returner. The senior finished with a game-high 164 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns, and head coach Mike Norvell admitted he was proud of him after the game.
"Sam's a guy that's a really talented football player," Norvell said. "He's growing, just in all areas. I was proud of him to see his impact in all three phases of it. The return game had a big
kickoff return. Obviously, you had some good runs, but then you're also catching the ball out of the backfield was great to see and to see his confidence growing and what we do."
"It was a great start for him to this season, and we're expecting big things as we continue to move forward," he added.
Singleton has improved each year he has been at FSU, and while there is a long way to go, his senior year is off to an excellent start.
