Former FSU Seminoles quarterback Jaylen King is back at the FCS level and has led the No. 15 Mercer Bears to a 2-0 start. He had the best game of his career during their 62-3 victory over Presbyterian on Saturday.
King played just the first half in the blowout victory, completing 12 of his 15 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns. He also carried the ball eight times for 48 yards and two more touchdowns. His 300.2 passing efficiency rating is the second-best single-game mark in Mercer history.
He has had an excellent start to his senior year, completing 64.4% (29-45) of his passes for 425 yards and five touchdowns in two games, averaging 9.4 yards per attempt. He has also been efficient on the ground, running the ball 19 times for 82 yards and two more
scores.
King spent just one season with the Seminoles, redshirting during the 2025 season. His only action came against Kent State, with him running the ball twice for six yards and failing to complete his only pass attempt. He was primarily used as FSU's scout team quarterback during the season, allowing him to preserve a season of eligibility.
The Folkston, Georgia, native has another season of eligibility remaining after the 2026 season. He spent time with ETSU and Gardner-Webb before his time in Tallahassee.
