The FSU Seminoles have 15 players committed in their 2027 recruiting class, but they are fighting to hold onto several of them. One of those players is three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson, who committed to Florida State back on June 19.
Despite that commitment, his recruitment is not over, and he recently visited the Virginia Tech Hokies for their game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and he enjoyed his time in Blacksburg.
"I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Virginia Tech and was glad I had the opportunity to meet the head coach," Thompson told Anna Adams of 247Sports. "Coach James Franklin was great to talk to, and I also enjoyed getting to speak with the other coaches, especially the wide receivers coach (Fontel Mines). The game
was good overall, and I really enjoyed being there and getting to experience everything."
Thompson is ranked as the No. 525 overall player and No. 71 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite. The Shelby native is also the No. 19 player from North Carolina.
He did tell Adams that his commitment to FSU is still solid and that he will be in Tallahassee next weekend when the Seminoles host the Clemson Tigers. The 5-foot-11, 181-pounder was also in Doak Campbell Stadium when FSU crushed Virginia on Oct. 3.
He is one of two wide receivers committed to FSU, along with four-star wideout Sean Green. Thompson has been Crest High School's No. 1 wideout all year, catching 24 passes for 338 yards and four touchdowns.
