Florida State is set to host 2027 four-star offensive lineman Timi Aliu this weekend when they take on the New Mexico State Aggies in their season opener. They hosted him for a game visit last season against the Virginia Tech Hokies, and they extended him an offer in January.
Aliu isn't without any strings attached to him. Back in May, he committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. However, until a prospect signs his name on the dotted line, the recruiting process never stops, and FSU hasn't let up on their pursuit of Aliu.
"I just like the relationship I had with them before I committed to Nebraska. They hit me up a couple times this summer, so I just wanted to get back," Aliu told Noles247.
He's the nation's No. 292 player and the No. 28 offensive
tackle per the 247Sports composite rankings. They have him listed as the No. 31 prospect in the state of Georgia as well.
Aliu has kept his eyes on Florida State due to the relationship he's built with offensive line coach Herb Hand and other assistant coaches on the staff. With that said, the season is here now, and results on the field, or lack thereof, will determine a lot.
"Really just trying to see if it's the same Florida State, because I did visit them back when they played against Virginia Tech. I'm trying to see if it's the same Florida State that I've seen against Virginia Tech, or is it a whole new thing? Do they have a new mindset, or how are the coaches, and just see how the overall feel is during that game," said Aliu.
The Seminoles are also recruiting Aliu's teammate, 2028 offensive lineman Darion Newton, who also attended the game against Virginia Tech last season. A great impression on Aliu could also help FSU's pursuit of Newton.
