Where FSU's offense ranks nationally after Week 1

Florida State’s offense has shown two different versions of itself through the first two games of the 2026 season.

The Seminoles opened with 419 total yards in a 34-17 win over New Mexico State, but that production dropped considerably in Monday night’s 27-24 loss to the No. 19 SMU Mustangs. FSU managed 324 yards against the Mustangs and was held to only 125 through the air, leaving Mike Norvell’s offense with some uneven national numbers entering its first bye week.

The running game has clearly been Florida State’s strength. Sophomore Ousmane Kromah has posted consecutive 100-yard performances and leads the Seminoles with 231 rushing yards, while quarterback Ashton Daniels and a deep backfield have helped FSU average more than 200 yards per game on the ground.

The passing game, however, remains near the bottom of the FBS statistically.
