After a long offseason, it is time for the Florida State Seminoles to play some football. FSU is set to open the 2026 season against the New Mexico State Aggies as one of several teams playing in Week 0.
FSU is looking to rebound after back-to-back losing seasons, and Mike Norvell is starting the season firmly on the hot seat, despite having a massive buyout. The Seminoles will look quite different than they did in 2025, having a new starting quarterback in Ashton Daniels and an entirely new offensive line.
However, they have several exciting weapons who are back and looking to take another step. Duce Robinson is a potential All-American, and Micahi Danzy is one of the most explosive players in the country, giving Daniels proven options to lead
the passing attack. Ousmane Kromah, Samuel Singleton Jr., and Quintrevion Wisner give them several talented options at running back, which will be a key for the offense to have success.

The defense will once again be led by Tony White, who is looking for his group to take a step forward in his second year as defensive coordinator. While there are questions along the defensive line, they appear to have upgraded at linebacker and in the secondary.
New Mexico State is looking to pull off the shocking upset. The Aggies went 4-8 in 2025, winning just one of their final seven games. This is their second-ever meeting, with the Seminoles winning 36-0 back in 1964.

Between Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and a strong group of running backs, the offense will be too much for the Aggies to contain. The defense will shut down their offense, allowing them to start the season with a blowout victory.
