Former Florida State running back Jashaun Corbin will hit the waiver wire after falling short of the Dallas Cowboys’ initial 53-man roster.
Dallas waived Corbin on Sunday as part of 39 roster moves made ahead of the NFL’s roster deadline. The Cowboys waived 28 players overall, including fellow running backs Jaydon Blue, Israel Abanikanda and Phil Mafah, as the team reduced its roster to 53 players.
Corbin’s stint with Dallas was brief. The Cowboys signed the former Seminole on Aug. 7, giving him an opportunity to compete for a spot in a crowded running back room during the final weeks of training camp.
The move does not necessarily end Corbin’s time in Dallas. Like other players waived during final roster reductions, he could potentially return
to the Cowboys’ practice squad if he clears waivers and the organization elects to bring him back.
Corbin originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants in 2022. He spent his rookie season on New York’s practice squad before briefly joining the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in 2023. The Giants later signed him back to their active roster, and he appeared in six regular-season games that year, recording one rushing attempt for one yard and three receptions for 12 yards while also contributing on special teams.
Before beginning his professional career, Corbin spent his final two collegiate seasons at Florida State after transferring in from the Texas A&M Aggies.
His best season in Tallahassee came in 2021, when he started all 12 games and rushed for 887 yards and seven touchdowns on 143 carries, averaging an ACC-best 6.2 yards per attempt. He added 25 receptions for 144 yards and another score on his way to earning third-team All-ACC honors. Corbin produced 1,288 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns across his two seasons with the Seminoles.
For now, the 26-year-old is again looking for his next NFL opportunity after being one of several running backs caught in Dallas’ final round of roster cuts.
