Since the Florida State Seminoles were on a bye week after being defeated in double overtime, 43-35, by the then-No. 3 Miami Hurricanes a week ago, how many teams in the ACC are ranked?
While FSU did not receive any votes in the AP Top 25
after Week 8, just three ACC teams are now ranked. The Miami Hurricanes are at No. 1 after defeating Pittsburgh 52-23, while Wake Forest is at No. 14 and SMU is at No. 19.In addition, there is just one ACC team in the "others receiving votes" category as of now: the Virginia Tech Hokies, with just one vote.
Miami retains the No. 1 spot after defeating Pittsburgh, perhaps still a little shockingly, as they have not defeated a single ranked opponent this season, along with Ohio State climbing up to No. 2 after BYU
dropped a game to unranked UCF.
Georgia is at No. 3, while Indiana and Notre Dame round out the top five. The biggest risers, Texas, climbed up eight spots to No. 11 after taking down Ole Miss. The aforementioned BYU Cougars were the biggest fallers, dropping six spots from No. 2 to No. 8.
FSU will look to try to break into the top 25 when they welcome the Clemson Tigers (4-2, 2-1 ACC) to Tallahassee on Halloween. They have a chance to get into the "others receiving votes" category if they can take care of business against them. The game will air on ESPN on Saturday, Oct. 31, on the ACC Network.
