The FSU Seminoles are set to hit the road this weekend for a massive non-conference game against the No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide.
FSU is looking to showcase their improvements after being on a bye last week. It was sorely needed after they lost to the SMU Mustangs 27-24 the week before and are searching for answers on both sides of the ball. They are now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in ACC play, causing the pressure to mount on head coach Mike Norvell.
The heat on him was ratcheted up even higher on Monday when the Seminoles fired athletic director Michael Alford. The move was seemingly the first step in the process of overhauling the football program and getting back to winning after two consecutive losing seasons.
Alabama improved to 2-0 last week with
a 45-17 win over the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. The Crimson Tide trailed at half, but scored the game's final 32 points to pick up the win.
Ahead of FSU-Alabama, ESPN's Bill Connelly predicted the final score using his SP+ metrics. Connelly has Alabama picking up a 32-16 victory over FSU, handing FSU its second straight loss and 10th straight road loss. His metrics give Alabama an 84% chance of winning.
FSU is the No. 45 team in the SP+ team rankings after Week 2. They have an overall rating of 59.8, with a 55.5 rating on offense and a -4.6 rating on defense. Alabama is the No. 11 team and features a 73.3 overall rating. They have a 59.5 offensive rating and a -14.2 defensive rating.
The game between FSU and Alabama starts at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be on ABC, with Sean McDonough as the play-by-play announcer, Greg McElroy serving as the color commentator, and Katie George reporting from the sideline.
