The Florida State Seminoles will open ACC play against the No. 19 SMU Mustangs at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Labor Day matchup could feature plenty of rain, with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Monday, Sept. 7.
The Seminoles are the underdogs in the game, something that seemed to surprise SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee earlier in the week. It will be the first time the Mustangs play in Tallahassee, with them winning their only other matchup 42-16 in Dallas back in 2024.
Both teams are a little banged up entering the Week 1 game, which will be SMU's first game of the season. The Seminoles are already 1-0 after beating the New Mexico State Aggies 34-17 in Week 0.

both struggled at times and will need to be better on Monday to beat SMU, which enters the season as one of the top teams in the ACC. It is the first true test of the season for head coach Mike Norvell, who is on the hot seat after back-to-back losing seasons.

- SMU 38, FSU 23. While FSU got the win in Week 0 and got their first-game jitters out of the way, they did not look like a team poised to pull off an upset against a top 25 team. The Mustangs crushed the Seminoles when they met in 2024, and while it won't be that bad, they will pick up a comfortable victory in Doak Campbell Stadium.
