The ACC was one of the biggest losers in the newest edition of the US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 3 of the 2026 season. The conference entered the week with four top 25 teams, but is down to three after the Virginia Cavaliers suffered their first loss of the season.
The Cavaliers were one of two teams to fall out of the rankings after getting upset by the West Virginia Mountaineers at home. They went from the No. 25 team in the country to receiving no votes.
They were not the only ACC team to plummet in the rankings, with the SMU Mustangs falling from No. 16 to No. 25 after losing 41-31 to the Louisville Cardinals on the road. The Cardinals climbed eight spots, going from unranked to No. 19 after the win.
The Miami Hurricanes are still the ACC's
top team, staying put at No. 5 after beating Wake Forest 35-20 on Friday. They are now 3-0 on the season and are the clear top team in the conference.
The Dule Blue Devils are on the verge of cracking the top 25, receiving 70 votes after they beat the Stanford Cardinal 35-7. Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech received 35 and 30 votes, respectively, after picking up wins. The Clemson Tigers earned three votes after rallying to beat the North Carolina Tar Heels.
