2028 four-star defensive back Phoenix Evans took a trip to see Florida State in June, and things went extremely as the he claimed it was one of his best visits. He has another visit locked in for November when FSU plays the NC State Wolfpack.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder has cut his list of potential schools down to 10, and Florida State made the cut. They join the Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, Kentucky Wildcats, Auburn Tigers, UCLA Bruins, Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, and California Bears as his top suitors.
Evans is the nation's No. 162 overall prospect, the No. 15 cornerback, and the No. 19 recruit in Florida in Rivals industry rankings. 247Sports composite rankings have him listed as the No. 193 player, the No. 18 safety,
and the No. 22 recruit in Florida.
It's been a busy season for Evans in terms of visits. He's been on trips to see Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Florida. The Gators hosted him on Sept. 26 when they played the Ole Miss Rebels, and he left the visit liking their approach. When Florida State has Evans on campus next month, they need to make another big impression on him.
FSU already had three-star prospects Man Robinson and Chayse Brown committed in their No. 5 ranked class in 2028, and both are looked at as safeties. If they can get Evans to join this secondary haul, it would be a major recruiting win.
