The Florida State Seminoles lost their first game of the season against the SMU Mustangs on Monday. Quite frankly, barring a turnaround the likes of which this fanbase is not expecting, they'll likely stay unranked for the rest of the season.
While FSU did not receive any votes in the AP Top 25 after Week 1, four ACC teams are now ranked. The Miami Hurricanes are at No. 7 after beating Stanford by 39. The SMU Mustangs are not far behind at No. 17, rising up two spots in their win over Florida State. The Virginia Cavaliers also found themselves at No. 25.
Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech are the only two ACC teams in the "others receiving votes" category with 11 and six votes, respectively.
Ohio State remains at No. 1 after defeating Ball State, 56-3.
Georgia has risen to No. 2, along with Notre Dame up to No. 3, and Texas at No. 4. Indiana moved to No. 5 while Oregon falls to No. 6.
FSU will look to try to bounce back when they travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium for a rematch against the No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, Sept. 19. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
