2028 four-star edge Antonio Thomas Jr. got a scholarship offer from Florida State last May. He took game visits last season when they played the Miami Hurricanes and Virginia Tech Hokies. On Saturday, he returned when they took on the Virginia Cavaliers.
Although he had been there multiple times, this trip was a different one for the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder. FSU pulled out all the stops to make Thomas feel special, and it meant a lot to him as someone who grew up a fan of the program.
"I came over there with my agent, I was like, 'Wow,'" Thomas said via 247Sports. "They greeted me, they had me first class, everything. I was like, 'Dang.' I'm definitely a priority at Florida State."
FSU clicked on both sides of the ball against Virginia. The offense
ran for nearly 300 yards while the defense produced 10 sacks and allowed just seven points. It was without question their best performance so far in 2026 as a team.
For Thomas, seeing a complete game by Florida State caught his eye. In fact, he spoke about how he could see himself coming to Tallahassee and contributing.
"That was the first time seeing the offense and the defense click," said Thomas. "It was like, 'Whoa, they got something going on here.' So I definitely know I could be the final fusion to the team, and we clicking. That's how I feel about FSU."
The Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and Miami are the other schools that have made impressions on Thomas. Speaking of Miami, he could make his way to the showdown between the Seminoles and Hurricanes on Oct. 17 at Hard Rock Stadium, which he's greatly looking forward to.
Thomas is the No. 17 overall player nationally and the No. 4 edge per the 247Sports composite. In the state of Florida, he's ranked as the No. 4 prospect. He attends Carrollwood Day High School in Tampa, Florida.
