The FSU Seminoles were in the mix for one of the top players in the 2028 recruiting cycle, but four-star safety Giovanni Tuggle has committed to the Ole Miss Rebels, announcing the news on social media.
Tuggle is from Winder, Georgia, and named the Seminoles and Rebels two of his top five schools back in July, along with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunters, and Clemson Tigers. FSU offered him a scholarship in August of 2025 and hosted him on two visits this year, but it was not enough to hold off Ole Miss.
He is ranked as the No. 56 overall player and No. 5 safety in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 9 player from Georgia.
Tuggle had an excellent sophomore season at Winder-Barrow High School, finishing with 74 tackles, four
interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, five pass breakups, and two special teams touchdowns in 10 games. He has carried it over to his junior season and already has 11 tackles, two interceptions, and one kick return touchdown in three games.
While missing out on Tuggle stings, FSU has plenty of time to add to its 2028 recruiting class, which currently consists of three-star athlete Cheyse Brown and three-star tight end Troy Silberzahn.
