Florida State extended a scholarship offer to 2029 four-star edge DJ Washington on Wednesday. They've wasted no time getting him on campus as the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder will make his first trip to Tallahassee on Monday night when they battle the SMU Mustangs.
FSU is competing with the Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, Tennessee Volunteers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and more for Washington. So they need to make a great first impression on the Booker T. Washington High School star. As far as what he's looking forward to on his visit with the Seminoles, Washington mentioned one key thing.
"Meeting with the coaches," Washington said per Noles247.
He's the nation's No. 33 overall prospect and the No. 5 edge per
247Sports. They also have him listed as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Alabama.
Washington had a good freshman season with 22 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, and one blocked punt. He's started his sophomore year off in great fashion as he's registered 15 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in two games.
First impressions are key, and Florida State needs to dazzle Washington as they try to get a leg up in his recruitment.
