Mike Norvell is expecting the FSU Seminoles to get several injured players back soon as they prepare for the start of the 2026 season.
Florida State held its final scrimmage of fall camp on Sunday, and Norvell explained that part of the reason is so that any players who do go down have a better chance to be back when the season starts. While several of their players missed one or both of the scrimmages, Norvell was optimistic Sunday that they could be getting some expected contributors back on the practice field.
Running back transfer Quintrevion Wisner has missed both of FSU's scrimmages, but Norvell is "expecting to get him back here shortly." It will be key for the veteran to hit the ground running as Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr.
have both had strong camps as the trio battles for the starting spot.
Florida State's linebackers have not been good enough over the past few seasons, something that has to change for them to get back on track. Not only do they have a new position coach in Ernie Sims, but they also made several additions to the room over the offseason.
Unfortunately, two of them have been battling injury. However, it does not sound like Mikai Gbayor and Izayia Williams will be out much longer, and Norvell is excited to see what both can do in their first years with the Seminoles.
"Mikai basically is the guy that's been close, I think here probably this next week we'll be able to see more action out of him," he said. "I'm really excited about what he can bring."
"Izayia Williams was out tonight," Norvell added. "But expecting him to get back into action here in this next week or so. A guy that I think is going to have an opportunity to impact."
While it is Gbayor's first year in Tallahassee, he has played for defensive coordinator Tony White before and knows the system well. Williams is one of several freshmen who are looking to make an immediate impact for FSU.
