Florida State needs a bounce-back win after losing their last two games to fall to 1-2 on the season. This Saturday, they return home before an extremely tough conference schedule commences as the Central Arkansas Bears will be in town for their first trip ever to Tallahassee.
If FSU wants any chance of making a bowl game, the wins need to start now, and they seriously have to handle business against a program they should beat. Falling to 1-3 with the remaining schedule they have would make it extremely difficult for them to play in a bowl.
The game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on the ACC Network. Now, let's take a look at five things to know about Central Arkansas.
This will be their first game against an ACC team
Not only will Central Arkansas be playing their first game against the ACC, it's
only their second time playing an FBS school, with the first coming last season in a 61-6 loss to the Missouri Tigers. Since they're in the United Athletic Conference, the Bears don't play teams of this caliber, and FSU needs to take advantage.
Donovyn Omolo is a dual-threat quarterback
Omolo has thrown for 671 yards with six touchdown passes to four interceptions this season, and he's also the leading rusher for Central Arkansas with 360 yards. Dual-threat quarterbacks have been a problem for Florida State in their back-to-back losses. So, they need to be prepared.
The running game fuels their offense
Central Arkansas averages 6.2 yards per carry as a team and 238.3 yards a game on the ground. FSU's defense has allowed 202 rushing yards during their consecutive losses to the SMU Mustangs and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Stopping the run will be essential.
Their defense causes turnovers
The Bears have forced eight turnovers, with six of them being interceptions. They've recovered two fumbles, but they've actually forced four on the season. Ball security is something that Florida State needs to put at the top of their to-do list.
Their defense also gives up points
Central Arkansas is allowing 28.3 points per game so far this season. With that said, the Seminoles need to take advantage by letting quarterback Ashton Daniels sling the ball around to Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy, and Ousmane Kromah needs to pound them with the running game.
