Florida State football is now 1-2 overall and is still 0-1 in ACC play after a 50-36 loss to the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide, in which they had a 21-6 lead at one point. Ultimately, the Seminoles fell, and the schedule will only get tougher after this week's gimme game against FCS Central Arkansas.
After the loss, Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports moved Florida State down to No. 62 in his weekly re-rank of all 138 FBS teams. Previously, they were ranked at No. 51.
Surrounding the Seminoles are the No. 61 Minnesota Golden Gophers and No. 63 Michigan State Spartans. The Golden Gophers went 8-5 last season, defeating New Mexico 20–17 in overtime in the Rate Bowl. Michigan State went 4-8 after starting the year 3-0.
Florida State is the 12th-best ACC
team per Myerberg's rankings, with North Carolina being the closest above them at No. 56.
FSU will look to right the ship when they host the Bears, Mike Norvell's former team, in Tallahassee on Saturday at 3p.m. ET. The game will air on the ACC Network.
