Florida State football wants to add to the two commitments they have in their 2028 recruiting class. Four-star defensive lineman Azhir Waddell is a player they've shown a ton of interest in.
They're one of 18 offers that Waddell has on the table. However, according to Zach Blostein of 247Sports, there are four schools that are separating themselves from the rest, one of which is FSU.
Following the arrival of new head coach James Franklin earlier this offseason, Virginia Tech has made an especially good impression on Waddell. He has been to campus several times since Franklin was hired and that has the Hokies in a great spot. Florida State, Georgia and NC State are a few other programs to watch for Waddell.
Waddell is the No. 148 overall recruit
and the No. 18 defensive lineman per the 247Sports composite rankings. They have also ranked the 6-foot-5, 275-pounder as the No. 19 prospect in the state of Florida.
It was a good sophomore year for Waddell at Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. He put up 31 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six sacks, seven quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles. He transferred to IMG Academy in Florida before his junior campaign.
Add Waddell's name to the list of potential prospects for the Seminoles in the 2028 cycle.
