Ashton Daniels has been up and down in his time with Florida State, to say the least.
Daniels, being a part of an openly rebuilding Florida State team, joined the team in 2025, becoming the third straight transfer quarterback to join the program for one season.
Despite not passing for 300 yards in Florida State's last four games, his completion percentage is better than his average of 58.6%. There are some sneakily good performances hidden in here, but they are muddied by a defense that has let up tons of points to good opponents.
With at least five games left in the regular season, and a bowl game to be determined, Daniels' college career is rapidly coming to a close. Here is a look at his key passing stats through the first seven games of the 2026
season.
Passing yards: 1,618
Daniels reached the 1,000-yard passing mark against Virginia, throwing for 183 yards in the thrilling 38-7 win. Daniels has passed for over 200 yards in five of his first seven games as a Florida State Seminole, but he has passed for as low as 125 yards against SMU.
His 1,618 passing yards are good for 32nd nationally and seventh in the ACC.
Passing touchdowns: 12
When it comes to passing touchdowns, Daniels can hang with the ACC's best. He is seventh in the ACC as well, but is 33nd nationally in this stat. One would be remiss if they did not mention his rushing ability, though.
Rushing touchdowns: 11
Daniels is in a league of his own in rushing. He currently leads the ACC in rushing touchdowns, including running backs. He is fourth nationally in rushing touchdowns, behind Michael Hawkins of West Virginia, Jadan Baugh of Florida, and Cale Hellums of Army. His five rushing touchdowns against Virginia helped greatly in this regard.
Interceptions: 8
Daniels, unfortunately, is tied for the lead in the nation in interceptions, alongside FIU's JJ Kohl and LSU's Sam Leavitt. He had three interceptions in FSU's loss to Alabama and has thrown at least one pick in six of his seven games.
Sacks: 17
Daniels has been sacked the third most times in the ACC and is tied for 14th most nationally with 17 total sacks against him. A porous offensive line has not helped, but he has also made mistakes in the pocket.
Completion percentage: 58.6%
Daniels' completion percentage is far below the national average, as he is 108th out of 162 quarterbacks nationally. He is the second-worst among starting quarterbacks in the ACC in this regard.
