The Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks saw their 2026 NFL preseason campaigns end in a 9-9 tie at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, August 28.
Neither team featured its starting quarterback in the exhibition matchup, and backups played the majority of snaps for both sides.
Rookie signal-caller Garrett Nussmeier led Kansas City's offense in all four quarters, completing 22 of his 34 pass attempts for 198 yards. The former LSU Tiger threw an early interception that kept the Chiefs on their back foot, but he otherwise performed competently in Kansas City's preseason finale.
Second-year running back Brashard Smith was the Chiefs' leading rusher, gaining 72 yards on 16 carries.

All of Kansas City's
points were scored by veteran kicker Harrison Butker, who hit three of his four field goal attempts.
Defensively, the Chiefs saw rookie pass rusher R Mason Thomas tally one sack that led to a fumble recovery by veteran linebacker Cole Christiansen. Third-year defensive lineman Marcus Harris was Kansas City's leader on the stat sheet with six combined tackles.
The Chiefs saw their 2026 NFL preseason record advance to 0-2-1 after the tie with Seattle, and Kansas City will now look ahead to its matchup against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football' in Week 1 of the regular season.
