Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Alohi Gilman spoke with reporters on Friday. He described his role as a big hitter in the secondary.
"Yeah, I mean that's part of the game for sure. I mean, when I get my opportunities, it's a little different role than I've done in other years," said Gilman. "You know, definitely being more in the back end, trying to take care of a lot of those coverage situations."
Gilman often showed his physicality in last Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. He isn't shy about reminding offensive players to fear coming his way on the field, as the veteran safety has shown leadership in a young secondary.
"When I get chances to come down and make a statement, I'm gonna do that," said Gilman. "I've never been the biggest guy,
but I always play with heart, and hopefully it's contagious for the rest of the guys."
Gilman has recorded 30 combined tackles (11 solo, 19 assisted) and 1 pass deflection across 7 games played this season.
