Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson spoke with reporters after practice on Sunday at Missouri Western State University. He said he's willing to be a receiving option out of the backfield and expressed his appreciation for Eric Bieniemy's coaching style.
"I've always done it since high school," said Johnson. "My brother's not here, but we always do 200 catches a day, so I try to make sure I get out here early enough to catch the ball, so I have no drops."
Johnson earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and Academic All-Big Ten from 2023 to 2025. He's already developed an understanding of the system under Bieniemy.
"Oh, he's (Bieniemy) going to push you, man. He's going to push you a lot," said Johnson. "He wants the best for me at the end
of the day; I'm not going to take anything personal. I pride myself on hard coaching, so I really love that he's here. He's pushing me to be better every single day."
In four seasons at Nebraska, Johnson appeared in 41 games, tallying 2,460 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 458 attempts. He also had 92 receptions for 702 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
