Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He recalled how his unique on-field connection with tight end Travis Kelce began.
“It started in training camp that first year I was starting, after every series he would ask me what I was seeing, why I wanted to throw it here,” Mahomes said. “Through those conversations, I started understanding what he was seeing. Now he’s able to do a lot of freelancing in the offense because we are on the same page.”
In their careers together, Mahomes and Kelce have connected for 773 receptions, 9,222 receiving yards, and 63 touchdowns across 128 regular-season and postseason games. Mahomes recently tied Tom Brady’s record for 100 wins after last Sunday’s victory over the Los
Angeles Chargers.
Kelce has recorded 20 catches for 299 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has 1,100 catches for 13,301 receiving yards and 84 touchdowns in his career, setting new milestones with each game.
Kansas City will look to keep its undefeated winning streak going on Sunday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks.
