Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He addressed wide receivers Cyrus Allen and Jalen Royals after veteran starters were injured in the last game.
"Just be ready; they've put in the work. They've had to put in the work at practice, and they've been doing that." Mahomes said. "Now when their number gets called, they're going to step into a role and do their job. I'm excited for them. We'll put them in position to succeed. I have a lot of trust in those guys, a lot of confidence in them."
Tyquan Thornton was placed on Injured Reserve earlier this week after suffering a dislocated ankle in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders. In the same game, Rashee Rice exited early with a hamstring injury, forcing
him out of practice on Wednesday.
Mahomes has recorded 1,037 passing yards, 9 passing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions through 4 games this season. He will need Royals and Allen to step up immediately and fill the roles of two injured veterans this Sunday.
