The Kansas City Chiefs are likely to be without star offensive lineman Josh Simmons in their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football.'

Simmons, who joined Kansas City as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is said to be dealing with a back injury and was set to be the Chiefs' starting left tackle during the team's primetime home opener.

If the former Ohio State Buckeye doesn't make significant progress in his recovery this week, rookie blocker Kahlil Benson will take his place as Patrick Mahomes' blindside protector.

Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen shared the latest update on Simmons' status in a post to his official Twitter account on September 8:
