Former Kansas City Chiefs executive Chris Ballard was relieved of his duties as the Indianapolis Colts general manager on Monday, October 19.
Indianapolis' decision to part with Ballard came just a day after the Colts lost a hotly contested matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 6 of the 2026 NFL regular season.
Ballard had served as Indianapolis' general manager since 2017 and had previously held positions as Kansas City's director of player personnel and director of football operations between 2013 and 2016.
The Colts announced that they had relieved Ballard of his duties in a post to their official Twitter account:

While it is unclear if the Chiefs
might decide to reunite with Ballard after his abrupt departure from Indianapolis, fans in Kansas City should expect the accomplished and long-tenured executive to have no problem finding a new job in the front office of an NFL franchise in short order.
