Friday's game presents the
final opportunity for second and third-string players to earn their spot on Kansas City's 53-man roster.
While the Chiefs' backups have not looked particularly great in the 2026 preseason, a few rookies have stood out as potential year-one contributors, including running back Emmitt Johnson, wide receiver Cyrus Allen, and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
Fans should expect to see these rookies dominate against Seattle when Kansas City's offense is on the field, particularly Nussmeier, who has risen from being a seventh-round pick to threatening veteran signal-caller Justin Fields' job as Patrick Mahomes' backup.
I don't think this contest will be drastically different than the Chiefs' first two preseason games, but if Nussmeier plays well, Kansas City just might earn its first victory of the year.
