The Kansas City Chiefs terminated the practice squad contract of veteran running back Nate Carter ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on 'Sunday Night Football.'
Carter — a former University of Connecticut Husky and Michigan State Spartan — originally entered the NFL as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons after failing to hear his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs' surprise decision to cut Carter from their practice squad comes just a day after Kansas City signed rookie linebacker Aiden Fisher to its practice squad.
News of Carter's abrupt termination was posted to the Chiefs' official Twitter account on October 21:
We have designated LB Cooper McDonald to return to practice. We have signed LB Aiden Fisher
to the Practice Squad. We have waived LB Cam Jones. We have terminated the Practice Squad contract of RB Nate Carter. pic.twitter.com/U6O61Nvfy6

While Carter never took the field for Kansas City during the regular season, his impressive athletic ability is sure to have put him on the radar of teams around the NFL, and fans should expect the former Falcon to have no problem finding work with a running-back-needy franchise in the coming weeks.
