Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy spoke with reporters after practice on Friday at Missouri Western State University. He compared his health status from last season to now, after surgery and as he grows as a leader on offense.
"Last year I was never 100 percent. I was never going to be 100 percent until I got the surgery," said Worthy. "So, I got the surgery, been working on it, building muscle mass, obviously working at it in the offseason, getting stronger and obviously building that shoulder back."
The 2024 first-round draft pick's recovery and learning throughout the offseason will help him become a better receiver and leader.
"Yeah, that's definitely something I want to do. I don't want to be a guy that's all loud, I kind of lead
by example, if guys need help, need wisdom in certain routes, I've kind of been here, I know a little bit now." said Worthy, "Obviously, I'm a third year but just getting (laughter)—still young, but getting guys obviously lined up, telling them 'Oh, you can run this' on this play, just being that leader obviously letting guys know they can run certain routes certain ways."
Worthy finished the 2025 season with 42 receptions for 532 yards and a touchdown. He also had 11 rushes for 87 yards in 14 games played.
