Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He addressed his leadership role in the Chiefs’ youthful wide receiver room.
“I think they lean on me a lot. We’re all-in on each other. We’re a group, one room. If one person isn’t doing their job, quite frankly, the play won’t work in general,” said Rice. “We just got to lean on each other, and whatever questions any young guys have, I’m here to answer. I’m also ready to talk on the field. I try to get out there and communicate with the refs, so they (younger receivers) can focus on certain routes.”
Rice is the elder statesman in a wide receiver room featuring Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, and rookie Cyrus Allen. In his return to the lineup last Sunday from injury,
Rice caught five passes for 53 yards and one touchdown against the Denver Broncos.
Through 5 games played this season, Rice has recorded 20 receptions on 25 targets for 243 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, and a long reception of 34 yards.
