This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with four-time Super Bowl champion and FOX Sports analyst Rob Gronkowski.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Gronkowski discussed the 'Bounty Is Your Wingman' campaign, which helps fans manage every spill, cleanup, and messy finger so that they can stay focused on the game. He opened up about appreciating the NFL differently as an analyst.
"So many Julian (Edelman) stories, but like we talk so much that there's so many out there," said Gronkowski. "There's no doubt about it, but Julian definitely needed some Bounty paper towels in his day to clean up his mess. He has used the Bounty paper towels. That's when he became my wingman."
Since retiring from playing in 2022, Gronkowski has served as a pregame
show analyst on 'FOX NFL Sunday'. He spoke highly of his role and his understanding of the game from the outside.
"Being an analyst now for a while is actually making the game slow down. I see the game very differently now. I used to go out there and be like, I'm just gonna run by this guy like that. I used to play based on my physical traits, and I knew the game a little and watched it a little. But now I'm watching it way more than when I did when I was playing, because you got to watch games all day long," said Gronkowski. "You've got to watch five games. You've got to know what's going on. You've got to know what you're talking about. I'm starting to watch games, and man, I wish I knew as much as I did when I was playing, because I'm seeing it now."
Gronkowski appears in several segments weekly, breaking down plays and sharing his experiences in specific situations. He was notably part of FOX's Super Bowl LIX coverage between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
"So yeah, learning more as an analyst, and the game is slowing down, and I'm seeing how it's played more," said Gronkowski, "After all, I'm analyzing it. Got to pay attention now. Instead of being like, "Oh, I can just run by the guy; I don't need to pay attention." No, I have to pay attention because I've got to break it down."
The former Super Bowl championship New England Patriots dynasty is well represented alongside Gronkowski at FOX Sports. He expressed gratitude for working alongside longtime teammates.
"That's what's so great about FOX: everyone's great there. It's like family. But what makes it feel even more like family, and even more comfortable for us, is that Julian's there as well. He's a teammate. Tom's (Brady) is there. We all have our different roles. Julian's on the first show, I'm on the pregame show, and then Tom's in the booth," said Gronkowski. "But we still feel comfortable because we know we have each other, and we interact whenever possible, which makes it so cool. It's unbelievable how we took this football family and the generation we're in, and we're continuing it with Fox. It's amazing."
The Chiefs are scheduled to appear on FOX Sports in Week 14 on Sunday, December 13, at 3:25 PM CT, against the Cincinnati Bengals.
