Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently spoke with reporters about the defense's efficiency against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.
"I thought, defensively, we did a really nice job of executing the plan that (Steve) Spags (Spagnuolo) put together with the coaches there. I thought our defensive line—Joe (Cullen) had those guys rolling, and they were able to get to the quarterback," said Reid. "I felt like the secondary was tightened up there. Dave Merritt does a good job back there, but it was tightened up, and those guys gave the D-line an extra step there to work with, and they were able to do a nice job for us up front."
Veteran defensive back L'Jarius Sneed had five tackles (four solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble
in last Sunday's game. Sneed's fourth-quarter forced fumble was his sixth of the season and the second-most of any Chiefs defensive back since 2020. Drue Tranquill recovered the fumble. It was the fifth fumble recovery of Tranquill's career, and the fourth since joining the Chiefs in 2022.
The Chiefs had 4 sacks against the Chargers. Ashton Gillotte had two quarterback hits and 1.0 sack; Chamarri Conner had four solo tackles and 1 sack; and Chris Jones and rookie Peter Woods each recorded 0.5 sack on the final drive.
