Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson recently spoke with reporters. He opened up about his bond with teammate Kenneth Walker III and the running backs room.
"I learned a lot just from me and K9 (Kenneth Walker III) being in a room with each other and just kind of seeing how things open up on the field," said Johnson, who praised Walker's Week 1 performance. "It was amazing, man. That was really cool to see. I know y'all have seen what he did, but I think you know K-9. He does it in practice, and it's not really surprising to me because I see him every day practicing how hard he works. So that wasn't really surprising, but expect a lot of that this season for sure."
Walker led the league with 191 scrimmage yards, with 173 rushing and
18 receiving, in Week 1 and collected two touchdowns. He became one of six running backs in NFL history to tally at least 190 scrimmage yards, one rushing and one receiving touchdown in a Week 1 game. He earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
"I feel like in practice, like when we're out there, it's like if he makes a play, I want to go out there and make a play too, and we kind of just feed off of each other," said Johnson. "We have a great bond, including Brashard (Smith). We all push each other in the room. Coach (Andy Reid) has been doing a good job with us too."
In Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, Johnson finished with 8 carries for 24 yards in the 31-10 victory.
