Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He explained what it's really like to return to play quickly after knee surgery and how it affects his weekly recovery routine.
"I feel normal, actually; I mean, it's like a blessing and a curse. You get sore everywhere else because you haven't played football in so long. And so the leg is like the least of my worries right now. So I'm just excited to be out there and playing," said Mahomes. "At the end of the day, you don't know until you get out there and play. And I was able to go out there and play, and I feel good today. So now it's about getting in the ice bath or whatever it takes to be ready for this Sunday night game."
In Week 1 against the Denver Broncos,
Mahomes finished with 184 passing yards and two touchdowns, then added a third score with a 15-yard scramble in the 31-10 victory. The victory marked Mahomes' 96th career win, which ranks fourth-most among quarterbacks in their first 10 seasons. His 269 career passing touchdowns rank fourth-most among quarterbacks in their first 10 seasons.
