According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Josh Simmons was "told to leave" a team meeting by head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Week 7 before he was placed on injured reserve.
Simmons — who joined the Chiefs as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft — is said to be dealing with a back injury that has kept him from taking the field as Kansas City's starting left tackle this season.
Rapoport and Garafolo revealed that Simmons was "sitting with his feet up" during a meeting this week, and that Reid asked him to adjust his posture.
When Simmons pushed back, telling Reid that his back and hips were aching, the long-tenured head coach suggested that the lineman should seek help
from the Chiefs' training staff, a sentiment that was later echoed by Mahomes after a brief but seemingly intense back-and-forth that further disrupted the meeting.

Last week, Simmons returned to practice in a limited capacity and seemed to be trending in the right direction, but Kansas City ultimately decided to place him on their injured reserve list on Thursday, October 22.
Simmons is said to have apologized to team leadership for the incident, and it is unclear if the Chiefs' decision to place him on injured reserve was in any way influenced by the disrupted meeting.
